A Hands-on Workshop to Unravel the Black Box-Dive into Explainable AI

The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at New Horizon College of Engineering, successfully organised a hands-on workshop titled “Dive into Explainable AI – A Hands-on Workshop to Unravel the Black Box” for the 5th-semester students on 23rd September 2025.
The workshop sessions were conducted at IBM Lab 2 under the expert guidance of
Mr. Raghu Prasad K. S., CEO, Kaushalya Technical Training and Consultancy Services,
a distinguished resource person known for his deep expertise in Explainable AI.
Mr. Raghu Prasad delivered an insightful and engaging session that demystified the black box nature of AI systems. His presentation offered participants a comprehensive understanding of the principles and significance of Explainable AI (XAI), emphasizing its role in enhancing interpretability, fairness, and reliability in machine learning applications.
The workshop was structured as an interactive experience, encouraging students to actively participate through discussions, queries, and practical demonstrations. This approach not only deepened their conceptual clarity but also fostered a collaborative learning environment. Participants explored real-world use cases and the broader impact of XAI, gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of transparency and accountability in AI systems.
By the end of the session, students walked away with enriched technical knowledge and a renewed curiosity to explore the ethical dimensions of AI. The workshop proved to be a valuable platform for shared learning, inspiring participants to pursue responsible AI development in their future endeavours.
