CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Industrial Visit to Open-Source India 2025, Bengaluru

The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at NHCE organised an industrial visit to Open-Source India 2025 in Bengaluru. The event was held on 5th and 6th November 2025 at the NIMHANS Convention Centre from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. A delegation of 90 students actively participated in this two-day industry-focused open-source conference.

The programme featured keynote talks, technical sessions, and hands-on workshops covering cloud, databases, agentic AI, observability, and governance of open-source software. Students attended Google Cloud workshops such as “Beyond the API: Command-Line Mastery of Gemini” and sessions on knowledge graphs, Cassandra, MariaDB, and agentic applications. They also explored the expo where leading platform teams showcased their tools and solutions.

Active participation was evident in the “FOSS for Everyone” track and technical workshops on AI, vector search, and cloud tooling. Several students won early-bird gifts and received goodies through live quizzes and sponsor activities. These interactive competitions boosted motivation and enhanced the department’s visibility at the event.

Students engaged in networking with industry engineers, developer advocates, and open-source foundation representatives. Such interactions provided insights into internships, project ideas, and community contributions. The visit offered exposure to real-world open-source tooling, translating classroom theory into practical skills.

Hands-on sessions provided tips on tool installation, deployment patterns, and workflows useful for lab projects and assignments. Networking opportunities clarified industry expectations and inspired future research directions. Participation in quizzes and demos improved teamwork, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
