Guest talk -Self-Esteem and Self-Acceptance in Young Adults

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning organised an insightful guest talk on the topic “Self-Esteem and Self-Acceptance in Young Adults” on 16th March 2026. The session aimed to create awareness among students about the significance of confidence, self-belief, and emotional well-being in shaping their personal and academic lives.
Dr Padmakshi Lokesh explained that self-esteem reflects an individual’s sense of personal value, while self-acceptance involves embracing one’s strengths and weaknesses without self-judgement. She emphasised that young adults commonly face challenges such as academic pressure, social comparison, external expectations, and fear of failure – all of which can impact their confidence and emotional health.
Through engaging discussions and real-life examples, the speaker encouraged students to practise positive thinking, self-reflection, and self-care as essential steps towards maintaining a healthy mindset. She highlighted the importance of setting realistic goals, cultivating resilience, and maintaining a positive attitude to effectively manage stress and overcome setbacks.
Students participated enthusiastically, sharing their experiences and seeking guidance on building self-confidence and improving emotional balance. The session proved highly informative and motivating, helping students recognise the crucial role of self-esteem and self-acceptance in their personal growth, academic performance, and overall mental well-being.
