Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in association with Alumni association organized an Alumni talk on “Transitioning from life as a student to a job in the industry – Opportunities and Challenges” . The speaker Mr. Abhinava is an NHCE alumni from the 2005 batch. He completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Science Engineering from NHCE in 2009. He then went on to pursue Master of Science in Information Networking and Communication Networking from Carnegie Mellon University. Previously he has worked as the Principal Software Architect in the Systems Architecture group at Infinera. His responsibilities included developing system requirements and software architecture specifications for transponder and line system products, focusing on embedded software, security, management and automation across data, control and management planes.
During the session he spoke about he started off by talking about the unprecedented opportunities in the current industry. He gave us tips on professional growth and career advancement. He advised us to work on innovative and diverse projects.
He then proceeded to talk about the various challenges a professional may face in the industry such as gaps in technical skills, planning and communication, balancing work and life, professional competition and such.
He advised to form connections and network around in the industry as it would prove to be useful for an individual to transition from college life to a professional life.
